I watched the latest episode of Psych this afternoon and it was a glorious return to form and a little strange as the episode was entitled “Remake A.K.A. Cloudy… With a Chance of Improvement” and pretty much treated the hardcore fan with a story told in an earlier season just done differently. The episode had tons of in-jokes and even made fun of the need for studios to have remakes and also the year this episode was set in and the need to remind the viewer more than once:)

An excellent episode of Psych and for Stargate fans a very very brief appearance by Peter Kelamis ( SG1 & SGU ) in the opening teaser as a defence lawyer and a far more meaty role for Katharine Isabelle ( SG1 ) in the main story. Other actors who struck a cord in the episode but no Stargate ties included the always funny Janet Varney, Ray Wise who always delivers and the excellent Alan Ruck.

Stargate TV Spots – Patrick Gilmore + Dan Payne

So two familiar faces appeared on my television while I was playing catch up with the recently broadcast episodes of Supernatural and Psych. The first was Dan Payne a stalwart of the Stargate franchise albeit usually not playing an out and out human which strangely enough was the case in the Supernatural episode “Road Trip” and he defied my recent view that facial hair equates to evil:)
The second was Patrick Gilmore playing a character named Patrick who has a run in with Shawn and Gus early on in the Psych episode S.E.I.Z.E. The Day. Always a delight to see anyone from Stargate both from in front of the camera and behind practicing their craft.

We’ve had Stargate references in The Simpsons before namely in the episode that starred Richard Dean Anderson but we got a quick nod to the scifi geek/nerd culture as comic book man donned a Stargate cosplay outfit in the episode “Married to the Blob”.

In the middle of nowhere during a cholera outbreak who should I see but Aleks Paunovic playing a disgruntled rail worker named Anton Hersch in the season 3 episode of Hell On Wheels “Cholera”. It wasn’t a large role but as Anton he certainly offered an imposing presence when facing down the shows lead character and anti-hero Cullen Bohannan.

Hell On Wheels has finished it’s third season on AMC in the US and is just beginning it’s UK run on TMC and has been renewed for a fourth season.

Concessionaires Must Die have released a trailer and you’ll see Stargate’s own David Blue in a starring role playing Scott. The movie tells the story of a group of cinema employees who band together to fight the theatres closure, hilarity ensues:)

Alessandro Juliani guest starred on the latest episode of Almost Human playing Ramon in Simon Says. A pretty good episode of the show using a tried and trusted central plot element. At times the shows feels like a live action Futurama and now and again I hear Blade Runner musical themes:)

Stargate TV Spot – Tim Guinee

I know I am a little behind after all the third season of Hell On Wheels finished a while ago but I’ve only just around to watching it, the upside is that I can marathon them and I honestly believe you get more out of a show without a weeks gap between episodes. Anyhow I just watched the first episode of season three entitled “Big Bad Wolf” and was pleased to see the name Tim Guinee appear in the credits, Tim is playing the slightly shady character of Collis Huntington a rival for our “hero” Cullen Bohannan.

Season three premieres in the UK on TCM 12th January at 9pm.
