Chris Bradford He played a med tech in the Stargate SG1 episode “Morpheus”
Chelah Horsdal Chelah played Lt. Womack in 5 episodes of SG1, she also played Erran in SGA’s “Tracker” and Inman in one of the Stargate Universe Kino episodes.
The discovery of an artifical dome close to the stargate on a poisioned world leads SG1 to investigate using their state of the art containment suits which are obviously not air tight. Small issues like that are not important as a small community is found living a tranquil existence but reliant on an uber computer system networked into their very minds. All seems well until Sam discovers issues with the power systems and people start vanishing yet those left behind do not question and even forget these people even existed.
Faced with the ultimate destruction of the remnants of this civilisation SG1 have to decide if they have the right to intervene or step aside and let things play out.
Still looks better than Bluetooth
Revisions is a nice standalone episode which features for the most part all of the main cast members, that said Daniel and Sam have more screentime but it is a scientific leaning mission leaving Jack and Teal’c to get into mishief.
The technology in play is highly advanced and you wonder like with our world how such brilliance would be unable to bring forth solutions to this worlds power generation and consumption/waste issues. Ultimately the final solution to save as many people as
practical was a fine idea but it stagnated the culture leaving no opportunity for a long term global solution. Then again maybe the networking of the computer into the minds of the people is the underlying lesson to be learned rather than the folly of a culture
bringing about it’s own destruction.
Now that’s smog!
One huge bonus of Revisions is the guest role for Christopher Heyerdahl who does make quite a few guest spots and two significant recurring roles in the franchise, he also made his mark in Sanctuary (two roles again) and the recent AMC series Hell On Wheels.
The promo for this week is from Tuning Into SciFi TV and next week we will be covering the fifth episode in this season “Lifeboat”.
Joe Flanigan gets some screen time c0-starring in this action thriller (August 27th Release) with Jean- Claude Van Damme, Anna-Louise Plowman (Osiris SG1) also guest stars:)
A very happy Stargate birthday to these three actors who graced the Stargate franchise with their performances and entertained us in many other shows and roles. Ian Buchanan Enid-Raye Adams Joseph May
Now I know it was always tricky to find a Goa’uld who was hiding out on Earth but when they give you a big clue like this then the SGC and NID have no excuses:)
Amazon in the US are currently offering the 10 season DVD boxset of Stargate SG1 for a great value $54.99 with their usual deals on free p&p and prime status. If you don’t already own the series on DVD and already have the two movies or not that bothered then under $6 a season is a bargain.
I can not see any time frame for this offer but prices change often on Amazon.
A very happy birthday on the 11th of June to Clare Carey who played Kerry Johnson in the Stargate SG1 episode “Threads” SG1 S8E18, you know the one in the diner. IMDB
Also today birthday wishes to Dean Aylesworth who took on the role of Anubis in the Stargate SG1 episode Reckoning S8E16. IMDB
While making a strategic withdrawl aka running away SG1 gate back to Earth but Tealc is hit while dawdling in the line of fire on the ramp, silly boy. With severe damage to his pouch and without a symbiote to heal him he goes through an extensive convalescence but suffers mental issues as he adapts to being weaker and in his culture less than a man. Daniel starts to have aural memories of his time as an ascended being which eventually reveal the location of Bratac and Ryac and thus a rescue mission is set in motion and Tealc is pretty much ordered to go. On the planet of Erebus captured Jaffa are worked to death mining and refining Naquada for the construction of Goauld ships, the SGC units arrive in time to aid a rebellion.
Fish in a barrel
Orpheus is a continuation of two main storylines the fist being the consequences of Daniels ascended status being withdrawn after he chose to act on his ethics and sense of right and wrong and the second is Teal’c and Bra’tac losing their symbiotes and relying on Tretonin. It’s quite difficult before watching the episode to see how these two story lines can merge but using the occasionally visited Jaffa resistance as the glue it works out pretty well. It’s not my favourite episode of the season but the location work is good even if it’s just the old gravel pit and as always there is some nice CGI, the show really never gets that wrong even on a TV budget.
UPS salesman do well at the shipyards
The only real grip and maybe it isn’t even a gripe is that we see Teal’c from a different side, he has rarely been the depressed oh woe is me type and feeling sorry for himself so it’s difficult to see the character in this light. Of course we then get the resolution and payoff as Teal’c fights for himself and his family ultimately achieving the desired results but taking a beating in the process.
Once he realises that what Bra’tac is saying in that the symbiote doesn’t make the man it’s his own strength of character and will that defines him Teal’c is once again the symbol for the rebellion.
Many thanks for the feedback this week and we had the new promo from Colin’s Star Trek podcast. Next week we are covering the fifth episode of the season “Revisions”, join us and why not send in a comment or post something here or on Facebook or Twitter.
A very happy birthday to Lexa Doig who played Dr Carolyn Lam in the final two seasons of Stargate SG1, she is married to Michael Shanks but we won’t hold that against her:)
Lexa is currently featured in the new scifi series Continuum and her resume is rich in the scifi genre from SG1 through Andromeda, The 4400 and Tekwar. Guest roles on Smallville, V and the dramas Arctic Air and CI5 bulk up an already impressive resume.
Also on the 8th of June the British actor Alan Scarfe celebrates his birthday, a familiar face on scifi shows when the need for a character actor arises. He guest starred in the Stargate Atlantis episode “Poisoning The Well” as Chancellor Druhin as well appearances on Babylon 5, Andromeda and Kingdom Hospital.
A very happy Birthday to Sandy Sidhu (Dr Mehta SGU) , Marc Worden (Ronan SG1) and Brian Jensen (Priest/Freyr SG1) all of who celebrate their births today (June 5th), thank you one and all for playing your parts in the story of the Stargate. Sandy – Official Site Marc – IMDB Brian – IMDB
Jack O’Neil returns to the SGC after spending some time at home but things are a little different, he is a little shorter for a start and more squeaky voiced. Overnight the Colonel has reverted to a 15 year old boy complete with the knowledge and experienced of his older self and the tests prove he is who he claims to be. Daniel and Tealc investigate the reports of alien abduction after Jack recalls seeing an Asgard face and the exploits of the greys revert to cultural stereotype, there is a reason mankind fears the arrival of the greys and being probed.
You might feel a slight pinch..
Fragile Balance is a good standalone episode well standalone in so far as there is a sort of pay off many seasons hence when events can be coupled with a story from Stargate Atlantis. This episode was shot with RDA off set for most of the time but with the resources given to Michael Welch he crafted his portrayal of Jack to perfection but with some nervousness but still backbone. There was some very nice location work and amazingly not everyone spoke English:)
Yes it’s Minnie Me
Next week we are covering the episode Orpheus a Jaffa centric story with the usual suspects so good times. As always thanks for the feedback and a special mention to Colin for three for three so far this season and the promo this week is from the Nutty Bites podcast. Join us next week, visit our Facebook and G+ pages and join in the conversations.
June the second is a very monumentous date for Stargate birthdays. The darling of Firefly and more recently The LA Complex Jewel Staite celebrates her birth today, she guest starred in the Stargate Atlantis episode “Instinct” as Ellia under heavy prosthetics and then returned to the show as the cast regular Dr Jennifer Keller.
Sharing the second of June the queen of Firely and recently V and Homeland Morena Baccarin is celebrating her birthday. She had a recurring role as the nemesis of the milky way galaxy “Adria” and made an awfully big splash for only appearing in a few episodes (and Ark of Truth) but was pivotal that seasons story line. IMDB
A great big birthday hug (don’t I wish) to the ladies of Stargate and Scifi, beautiful, talented and taking their craft to other genres with lots of success.
Least we forget Wayne Brady who played Trelak in the SG1 episode “It’s good to be King” IMDBand Frank C Turner who guest starred in the SG1 ep “Desperate Measures” IMDB Happy birthday guys.
The first day of June provides two notable birthdays, the first is Patrick Gilmore who played Dr. Dale Volker in Stargate Universe he also appeared in both SG1 and Atlantis. To add to his scifi credentials he also gust starred in Battlestar, Defying Gravity, 2012 and Fringe.
Up next is Rene Auberjonois famed for his role in Deep Space 9 as Odo or maybe if you are older as Clayton Runnymede Endicott III in the sitcom Benson. However for our needs he played the slightly right of centre Alar in the SG1 episode “The Other Side”.
A Happy Birthday to Colm Meaney the tv and movie actor who guest starred in Stargate Atlantis (The Genii leader Cowen) but best known for his role as Miles O’Brien in Star Trek TNG/DS9 and Thomas ‘Doc’ Durant in the recent Hell on Wheels.
Louis Gossett Jr who played the Jaffa Gerak in season 9 of Stargate SG1 celebrates his birthday today the 27th of May. He also starred in the Iron Eagle series and alongside Dennis Quaid in a little scifi flick called Enemy Mine, not to forget the awesome An Officer and a Gentleman, his IMDB is quite extensive.
