Head let me introduce you to brick wall:)
We’ve had to abort our recording of Tangent on monday and tuesday thanks to the whims of Skype or maybe the net connections of Alan or myself, the lag and drop outs are just impossible to work around. We’ve scheduled another attempt this Saturday around noon so if it a passing hiccup it’ll be sorted out because there are only so many things you can do to your own PC and network to limit any bottle necks.
It is mildly amusing that the audio issues are very similar to those experienced by Jack and Teal’c while flying at a million mph out of the solar system and trying to chat with Stargate Command:)
Michael Shanks and JR Bourne star in the movie “The Lost Treasures of the Grand Canyon” which airs tonight (3rd) and the 9th of January on Syfy UK in SD and HD. It’s not the best TV/DVD movie ever but it’s a bit of fun and has two of our SG family involved. The love interest is supplied by Shannon Doherty which can be a good thing of bad, depending:)

We’ve talked well mentioned the Propworx Stargate auctions over the last year and alas the items and p&p/insurance have put them out of my reach but I did pick up the Catalogue last week. It arrived earlier today via UPS International so not bad delivery speed to the UK and of course VAT not applicable which is always a factor when importing from outside the EU.
Anyhow the hard back catalogue is beautiful, it’s a good inch think full of glossy photographs split into sections such as costumes, props, weapons etc etc and a small but good section of interviews with key figures in the production, it’s going to take pride of place on my book shelf.
Syfy Cancels ‘Stargate Universe’
Some sad but not unexpected news for fans of the more adult and harder edged science fiction drama. In the end the move to Tuesday and corresponding drop in “live” viewing figures regardless of good DVR and streamed viewing makes you wonder if Syfy were looking to dump perhaps their most expensive scripted show. Given the demise of Caprica they have certainly freed up a huge amount of cash and no offence to the creators of Haven or Eureka but they are far cheaper shows to produce.
Michael Shanks guest stars on The Good Guys episode “SuperCops” as the commander of the crack SWAT like division of the Dallas police force the unit Jack applied for around the time he partnered up with Dan. It’s not a large role for Michael but he looks good in the uniform and is playing a bit of a jerk with lots of potential for a recurring role.
Congratulations to Robert Carlyle for winning the Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role for his work in the first season episode “Human”.
Alas despite SGU having another 8 nominations for both behind and infront of the camera work Robert was the only winner but he certainly deserves it having made the decision to move from theatrical to tv with a role that suited his style to perfection.
Ok folks we’ll be recording the recap of Stargate’s third season next Tuesday (16th) so it’s an excellent opportunity for both first timers and old hands to send us some feedback even if it’s just the name of your favourite episode:)
Comments can be posted here, emails, facebook and twitter are all acceptable.
The recording should kick off around 6pm (UK time) using our normal method which is Skype so you can even join us as we record, the episode will be very loose as we discuss each episode for a few minutes and anyother bits we can think of.
A few days too late for the US but a few days early for the UK is the TV spot for Gary Jones best known for his role as Mst Sgt Walter Harriman as he guest stars in Sanctuary. The episode in question “Bank Job” is the shows take on a mission to recover an object safely tucked away in a vault but things go a little wrong and Helen and Co end up holding hostages and dealing with the feds, good fun especially a couple of the lines which were gems.
I just noticed that A Dog’s Breakfast the independent movie written and directed by David Hewlett (Rodney as if you need reminding) is currently playing in the UK on MGM HD. He plays a rather neurotic brother who attempts to break up the relationship between her sister and new fella by any means necessary. Kate Hewlett (his real sister) plays his screen sister with Paul McGillion (Beckett from SGA) playing her boyfriend guest stars include Christopher Judge and Rachel Luttrell and a couple of actors no from the SG franchise:).
I own the DVD and enjoyed the movie when I’ve watched it but I’ve added the HD version to the DVR to see what it looks like and it’s been a while since I’ve watched the movie so as good as time as any.
I’ve just finished watching the Smallville episode “Shield” the second ep of the final season and Michael Shanks reprises his role as Hawkman but in his civvy disguise as yes an archaeologist. At least one scene looked like a homage to Indiana Jones so all in all a geeky moment:)
Well I have been in two minds in regards to watching the trailers for the upcoming SGU season 2 since I really do not appreciate spoilers but lets be honest guest star casting news is pretty impossible to avoid so here is the latest trailer, watch if you dare:)
The season two premiere kicks off on the US SyFy channel this Tuesday the 28th and is partnered up with the early returning Caprica (if that is your thing). SGU returns to UK screens on Tuesday the fifth of October on SKY1 and is followed by the new season of Fringe.

It’s always good to keep tabs on the work of the actors involved in our favourite franchise so lets talk about the American World Pictures adaptation of the comic series “Paradox” starring Kevin Sorbo but featuring a good role for Chris Judge.
The story centers around a murder which takes place on a version of Earth where magic underpins the entire world, everything is done with magic including cell phones, forensics, weapons etc etc and it’s science that is considered the “fringe” belief.
When the murder is committed with no trace of magical input Sean Nault (Kevin) investigates and uses his belief in science to explore avenues others would not consider, aided by his Captain (Chris Judge) and the coroner Helen played by Alisen Down (SGU, BSG, Smallville) and a science practitioner played by Steph Song (Smallville) he discovers a conspiracy which goes beyond his own reality!
I enjoyed this movie and I think any fan of SG1 and SGA (maybe not so much SGU) will enjoy it as well as seeing Chris in a more recent production still looking badass:)
