It was announced yesterday that Ben Browder (SG1, Farscape) will be making a guest appearance on the new CW show Arrow in the role of Ted Gaynor. It was also tweeted that Ben was currently on his first day on set, lets hope this provides him with a recurring part of the smash hit series for the network. Ben has guest starred on a number of shows genre and not so much since his regular role on Stargate came to an end, these include Chuck, CSI Miami and Dr Who.

This week on NCIS we had a brief appearance of a personal favourite of mine, Julie McNiven guest starring in the 30th Oct episode “Namesake”. We’ve seen Julie in a handful of Stargate Universe episodes as well Supernatural, House and Fringe. Always a pleasant surprise to see a familiar face in a show you were unaware they were in:)
A hand crafted Stargate silver ring with sapphires. It’s pretty, shiny and pricey but you ain’t gonna find this in your local high street trinket store:)

Here we have Claudia Black guest starring the November 2nd episode of Haven “Magic Hour” on the US Syfy channel. I’m not going to give anything away but it was a to be continued so maybe more of Claudia next week:)
On a slightly different tack we are now on the eighth season of Stargate SG1 which is when Claudia makes her first appearance in the show.
Helena posted this to youtube and casually mentioned she was bored so arranged the music to the Sam and Orlin “romance” in the SG1 episode Ascension, now that’s one talented woman:)
More from Helena on her youtube channel and in the Stargate Addictions Facebook Group.
There is a new Stargate SG1 novel out called “The Drift“. It’s currently available in a variety of ebook formats from the various Amazon stores as well as Crossroads Press, the paperback is due out in about 3 weeks.
The author will be very familiar to Gateworld listeners, Diana Dru Botsford.

It was Friday October 28th 1994 when an American/French scifi adventure movie co-production opened in the US, directed by Roland Emmerich and produced by Dean Devlin Stargate came to fruition.
An alien piece of technology is discovered in a dig site surrounding the Great Pyramid and the device is taken to the US under military control, decades of research lead nowhere until Daniel Jackson an author and archaeologist who believes the Egyptian culture had been influenced by alien life is brought on board. He solves the riddle of the device and with the Stargate activated a group of Airforce personnel along with Jackson travel to an alien world and discover a human culture enslaved by the ancient Sun God Ra complete with the Egyptian paraphernalia and pyramid spaceship.
As you would expect the team are at cross purposes, destroy the gate to prevent this Ra from returning to Earth now the portal has been opened or lead these people into a rebellion to throw down this despotic being who rules with fear and force.
The movie made a modest box office return in the US but it’s worldwide receipts were excellent pushing this $55 million movie into serious profit returning $196 million yet no sequel was on the horizon despite the goal of a movie trilogy. It wasn’t until a few years later when MGM who owned certain rights (distributed the feature alongside Canal+) were brought a project for a TV series based on the movie by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner, this series became Stargate SG1 and premièred on Showtime to both popular and critical acclaim and worldwide acceptance.
Yes The Asylum have once again slapped the cash into a much smaller production of an upcoming major theatrical release and for us the big draw is a role for our very own Christopher Judge.
This past week (Oct 7th -12th) we’ve seen three former Stargate actors appearing in major genre shows.
First up is Tony Amendola who is playing the recurring role of “Marco / Geppetto” in Once Upon A Time. Up next is Paul McGillion with a little prosthetic enhancement guest starring in Fringe as “Edwin Massey” and finally Michael Kopsa also in Fringe as the bad guy for the season the Observer Captain Windmark.
