While searching for a crashed UAV the guys are captured by an a bounty hunter who intends to trade them to a system lord or use them to capture a more valuable prize whose identity causes more complications.
The episode features Sam Jones who is perhaps most well known for playing Flash Gordon in the movie a couple of decades ago and he plays the bounty hunter Aris Boch to perfection.  We are also introduced to our first look at the Tel’tak cargo vessel which features strongly as the workhorse of the Goauld and independent fleets and we meet a new Tokra by the name of Korra played by Mark Holden.

Sokar is once again an element of the story which fuels his role as this season big bad.
This was a decent episode, a good character played well by Sam was the key and it was clear that SG1 has been very lucky in the past, a dedicated professional took them out easily while the more emotional and head strong system lords and followers continually fail.

  1. Aris was certainly an alpha male and I suspect years of successfully employing his skills against competent foes made him more so. We see clearly that the Goa’uld frequently sow their own seeds of defeat thanks to their mindset where as Aris out manoeuvred SG1 easily.

  2. I’ve always rather liked this episode. I don’t really know what it is but I like the character Aris. I think it’s because he’s even more snarky than Jack. Another thing I liked how smart he is. Far too often a bad guy is defeated because of some, usually, glaring error in their master plans or because they over-think what their doing. Aris knows what he’s doing and he is always one step ahead.
His turnaround at the end was a bit too pat, obviously driven by the time limit of the episode. The difference about this is the good guys won against an antagonist who always had the upper hand against them. They won in the end not by a “clever trick” but by convincing Aris to try something different.
It’s really too bad they never did anything more with Aris or his people. There was potential there for some interesting story development.

Keep up the great work gentlemen.
