This is our second promo done by yours truly with the aid of some reverb and pitch shifting, it’s not quite Goauld but I had good intentions:)

Again feel free to use this or any other promo we have in your podcast and let us know so we can return the favour.

We are actively trying to expand our listenership with Facebook and other listings plus we finally have a couple of promos and some more stuff in the works. Our thanks to Jeffrey R DeRego for taking the time to help us out.

We would be delighted if any podcast out there would play a promo and in return we would be more than happy to play theirs.

We have ventured into the murky world of Facebook.

I am not going to kid you and claim it’s anything but a way to reach more people and connect with fellow fans and listeners in the podcast and other communities but hey doesn’t do any harm. We would be delighted if you add us and spread the word.

The Gatecast on Facebook.

It’s been a long wait and I suspect for many too long but new episodes are due next month and the first promos are appearing on Syfy.

Jay Brazeau who played Harlan in the season one episode “Tin Man” featured in this weeks episode of Supernatural relavently named “My Bloody Valentine”.

He played Dr Corman the town coroner who is on friendly terms with the character of the week Dean is playing and helps the boys discover the cause of a number of mysterious deaths including two young people on their first date who literally eat eachother…

Yes it’s one of the more gruesome yet funny episodes of Supernatural:)

Now I really enjoyed this new take on the SG franchise so I would assume I am part of the demographic that MGM are looking to exploit by this half season boxset released on DVD and Blu-ray. However the  pricing for this half season release especially when you double it up and consider that this could be the most expensive 20 episodes of a network/cable show on the market is a little optimistic especially with the mixed reactions to the series.

Anyhow for those with more money than sense or simply a much bigger fan than I am then both the US DVD and Blu-ray are up for pre-order before their February 9th release date. The UK DVD release is slated for July and no details on the content except for a vague mention of 6 discs so it could be a full season release.

Just a quick update on the pricing for both SG1 and Atlantis full season boxsets each side of the Atlantic thanks to Amazon, prices in the UK are pretty much similar retailer to retailer but I can’t speak for the US where the likes of Wallmart etc can undercut even large online dealers.

If anyone has better deals then feel free to email or use the comment option.

UK

SG1 Full series plus Ark of Truth and Continuum £91.48

Atlantis Full Series £65.98

US

SG1 Full Series Collection $104.49

Atlantis The Complete Series $115.99

SG-Blu

The first UK release of Stargate the movie is currently being priced down in preparation for the release of the remastered version (Feb 22nd) which is already being sold in the USA. Prices have been fluctuating between £5 and £7 over the last few days and from all accounts this version is better than the US original release which is stomped all over by the remastered version I imported.

The final episode of the first half of the SGU season aired a few days ago in the UK and last week in the US and it was pretty darned good, some major plot points below without giving away any spoilers.

  • The death of a recurring character
  • Suspicion falling on a major player
  • Backstabbing and conflict between the military & civilians
  • Cliffhangers

Justice was well paced and well written with the whole cast playing a part and thankfully no Comm Stone element which for many is a blessing, I do actually think they have been used a little too much early on but then again some of the stuff like Telford and Young has worked very well.

We’ve a long wait for the next episode to see exactly how the major and minor cliffhangers are going to be resolved and it’ll be interesting especially off the back of the lowest ratings of the season how the audience is maintained over the next few months.
